We (Nick and Laura) met in grad school in Michigan in 2011 and bonded quickly over a shared love of goats. Nearly a decade later we still don't have our goats, but we DO have chickens, dogs, cats, and a baby daughter, Cordelia Rose.
In 2016 we moved from Eugene, Oregon, to Humboldt County, California, where we took jobs as faculty in the Geography Department at Humboldt State University. In August 2017 we purchased a sweet little house in Eureka on a quarter-acre lot with a chicken coop and tons of invasive blackberries. In the summer of 2018 we got to work building our soil, connecting to the land, and making products in our home kitchen. (We also got married on the summer solstice!) Our daughter, Cordelia Rose, was born the following year, and she's been a source of so much joy and inspiration.
Together we are passionate about food and farming, connection and community, relationships and reciprocity, consciousness and cultural change. About finding ways to live collaboratively, to heal and to flourish. And we believe that permaculture lies at the heart of all these things.
